GABRIELLA PAPADAKIS / GUILLAUME CIZERON: RUSSIA HAS PLENTY OF FIGURE SKATING FANS
Two-time World Champions Ice Dance couple — Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron remind the debut on ISU Grand Prix in Moscow, reveal expectations about European Championships and tell about walks on Red Square.
Do you remember your first ISU Grand Prix competition in Moscow at season 2013/14?
It was our first ISU Grand Prix, that experience we’ll never forget.
It was the worst short dance in the whole our career (both laughing).
Yes, it’s true. That short dance was really bad. But bad experience is also an experience, and it made us better. We have very good impressions about ISU Grand Prix in Moscow, though our performance was not good. And that’s why we are looking forward to come back in Moscow to gain peculiar rematch.
How much important is European Championships for you in pre-Olympic season?
We know that the European Championships are very important because it is the last major tournament before Olympic Games. Also, good result on European Championships is always honorable. But it is in this season that for us more important unmistaken performance than title. It makes us more confidence at Olympic Games.
It will be a good practice for us. Right away the Championships we back to Montreal. We can use European Championships to see what we can improve yet, work over final elements, components. That’s why in this year European Championships are like final repetition before Olympics.
Have you seen Red Square last time in Moscow?
Russia has plenty of Figure Skating fans, there are crowded stands on every competition. Always we get warm support from people there, therefore we very like to perform in Russia. Sadly, we can’t to see the city during competition. Typically, we only see a rink and a hotel. But if we would have time we’ll go to Red Square. It’s nice.
Out last time in Moscow was November, and the city had a Christmas decoration. It was very beautiful, and I remember most of it. I also want to go to Red Square, visit its museums. Unfortunately, last time we have no time for that.
I wish that this time everything worked out. Thank you.
